PTSB credit card 2026 | ICE Visa rates, fees and debit
PTSB's ICE Visa credit card in 2026 — 22.53% APR, 0% balance transfers for 6 months, plus Explore current account and debit card charges.
Bank cardsUpdated
PTSB runs a single personal credit card, the ICE Visa, and a single personal current account, Explore. That makes it the simplest of the three Irish retail banks to compare — there is nothing to choose between.

The catch on the balance transfer
PTSB gives you 0% for six months on a transferred balance, but charges 2.5% or €5 to move it, whichever is bigger. On a €3,000 transfer that is €75 up front. An Post’s 12-month 0% offer runs twice as long, so run the numbers before you assume the shortest offer is the cheapest.
Note also that the 0% only covers what you transfer. New purchases sit on their own three-month 0% period, and cash withdrawals are charged at 22.46% from day one — there is no interest-free window on cash.
Applying
PTSB assesses income from three months of bank statements from your main personal current account. In-app approvals carry a minimum credit limit of €1,000 and a maximum of €10,000; limits outside that range go through a fuller assessment.
You can add a family member aged 18 or over as a free additional cardholder. The card works with Apple Pay and Google Pay.
PTSB Explore current account and debit card
Explore costs €8 a month, billed as €24 a quarter. In exchange there are no per-transaction, withdrawal or contactless fees on the Visa Debit card, and no charges on transfers between PTSB accounts, direct debits or standing orders.
Two cashback mechanics run on top:
- 5c back every time you pay by card in-store or online, capped at €5 a month
- 2% cashback on PTSB mortgage repayments paid by direct debit from an Explore account, running until 31 December 2030
If you make 100 card payments a month you claw back the full €5, which brings the effective cost to €3 a month. That is the cheapest headline current account at one of the three Irish banks — AIB and Bank of Ireland both charge €6 a month with no cashback — but only if you use the card constantly.
Outside the euro area, the debit card charges 1.75% with a €0.46 minimum and €11.43 maximum. Government stamp duty of 12c applies per ATM cash withdrawal, capped at €5 per card per year.
Who PTSB suits
The ICE card is a competent balance transfer card if you can clear the debt inside six months and the 2.5% fee does not wipe out the saving. At 16.50% on purchases it is mid-table — cheaper than Bank of Ireland Classic, well above AIB CLICK.
The Explore account is the strongest of the three bank current accounts for someone who pays for everything by card, because the 5c-per-payment cashback is real money against a €8 fee. It is the worst of the three if you barely use the card.
PTSB has no rewards card, no travel card and no premium tier. If you want any of those, look at Bank of Ireland or Avant Money.
Frequently asked questions
Does PTSB have more than one credit card?
Not for new personal customers. The ICE Visa is the only card PTSB currently markets. Older PTSB and former Ulster Bank customers may hold legacy cards on different rates.
What is the minimum income for a PTSB credit card?
€20,000 a year, and you must be at least 18. PTSB asks for three months of statements from your main current account as proof.
How much does PTSB charge to transfer a balance?
2.5% of the amount transferred, or €5, whichever is greater. The transferred balance then sits at 0% for six months before reverting to the standard rate.
Is the PTSB Explore account really €8 a month?
Yes, charged as €24 a quarter. You can offset up to €5 a month with the 5c-per-card-payment cashback, so the practical cost sits between €3 and €8 depending on how often you tap.
How do I log in to PTSB or query my card?
Use ptsb.ie, the PTSB app, or the phone number on the back of your card. Do not enter PTSB login details anywhere else.
