AllGo card balance check, activation and fees

Check your AllGo Mastercard gift card balance at allgo.getmybalance.com, activate it, and know the 5-year expiry and the €3 monthly fee after 12 months.

Gift & rewardsUpdated

To check an AllGo card balance, go to allgo.getmybalance.com, click My Cards, and enter your card number and the security code from the card. You can do this without logging in, but the card has to have been activated first.

AllGo is an Irish prepaid Mastercard gift card, most often handed out by employers as a tax-free reward under the Small Benefit Exemption. It works anywhere Mastercard is accepted, with a short list of exceptions worth knowing before you get to a till.

This is not AllGo. The official site is allgogiftcard.com.

Activating your AllGo card

Physical AllGo cards must be activated and registered online by the person who received them — a card straight out of the envelope will not work.

  1. Go to portal.allgogiftcard.com.
  2. Enter your name, email address and home address, and create a password.
  3. Verify your email address.
  4. On the Add a Card page, enter the 16-digit card number and the 6-digit security code printed on the card.

Two restrictions apply, and neither is obvious: activation only works from inside the EU or the UK, and the cardholder must be over 18. If you are travelling when the card arrives, activate it before you go.

Digital+ cards are accessed through the Get My eCard app rather than the web portal.

Where you can spend it

Anywhere that accepts Mastercard — in store, online, and abroad.

The exceptions matter more than the rule. AllGo lists these Irish retailers as not accepting the card:

  • Three Ireland
  • Vodafone Ireland
  • Circle K
  • Applegreen

Two of those are forecourts, so do not plan on filling the car with it. ATM cash withdrawals are also blocked, because taking cash out would break the terms of the Small Benefit Scheme the card is issued under.

Expiry and fees

AllGo Mastercard gift cards are valid for 5 years, and cards carry a minimum five-year “valid thru” date. That is unusually long for an Irish gift card — but the expiry date is not the deadline that costs you money.

First 12 months after the card is loaded No charge
After 12 months €3.00 per month on any unused balance
Replacement for a lost or damaged card €20
Maximum load €2,500 (€1,500 if issued under the Small Benefit Scheme)

At €3 a month, a €36 balance disappears in the year after the free period ends. The five-year expiry date is close to irrelevant in practice — the monthly charge will have cleared most balances long before it.

The €20 replacement fee is high compared with similar Irish cards, which is an argument for activating and registering promptly so a lost card can be dealt with through your account.

AllGo states that card funds are safeguarded and that it is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.

The employer angle

Most AllGo cards arrive because an employer used the Small Benefit Exemption. From 1 January 2025, an employer can give an employee up to five non-cash benefits a year, worth up to €1,500 in total, with no PAYE, PRSI or USC on either side.

The details that shape the card:

  • The benefit must be non-cash and not convertible to cash — hence the ATM block.
  • A single benefit worth more than €1,500 is taxable in full, not just above the threshold. That is why AllGo caps Small Benefit cards at €1,500 even though the card itself can hold €2,500.
  • Only the first five benefits in a tax year qualify, and unused allowance does not carry forward.
  • Employers must report the date and value of each benefit to Revenue under Enhanced Reporting Requirements, on or before the day the benefit is given.

Revenue’s Small Benefit Exemption page is the authority. Businesses order cards at allgogiftcard.com.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check my AllGo card balance?

Go to allgo.getmybalance.com, click My Cards, and enter the card number and security code. You can also log in to your account to see the balance and full transaction history. Digital+ cardholders use the Get My eCard app.

How do I activate an AllGo card?

Register at portal.allgogiftcard.com with your name, email and home address, verify your email, then add the card using its 16-digit number and 6-digit security code. Activation only works from within the EU or UK and you must be over 18.

How long is an AllGo card valid?

Five years from issue, with a minimum five-year valid-thru date on the card. In practice the €3 monthly charge that starts 12 months after loading will usually clear the balance long before the expiry date.

What fees does an AllGo card have?

Nothing for the first 12 months after the card is loaded. After that, €3 a month is deducted from any unused balance. A replacement card for one lost or damaged costs €20.

Where can’t I use my AllGo card?

Three Ireland, Vodafone Ireland, Circle K and Applegreen do not accept it, and ATM cash withdrawals are blocked. Everywhere else that takes Mastercard should work, including online and abroad.

Can I get cash from an AllGo card?

No. ATM withdrawals are blocked because they would breach the Small Benefit Scheme terms the card is issued under.

How much can be loaded onto an AllGo card?

Up to €2,500 in general, but €1,500 is the maximum if the card is being issued under the Small Benefit Scheme.

Can I buy an AllGo card for myself?

AllGo is sold to businesses for employee rewards, incentives and promotions. Order enquiries go through allgogiftcard.com.
